July 26, 1972 Wed.
Dear Flowers:
I got up at 7:30 for a change. David & Becky had a tennis lesson; Mom bowled & I swam with Lisa. Later Becky joined us. I almost flew the coop when Kim comes into the pool. I was sure he had left to military school. We ate lunch at the country club. Mom ate with Mrs. Seehafer & another lady; we kids sat together Steve S, Lisa S other ladies 2 little kids, Robert Cazares & us. In Bar Deportivo when I wasn’t looking Robert put tabasco sauce in my ketcup (for papas) & I sure ran till I got to the bathroom & turned the faucet full blast. Played ping pong. Dad’s home!! Yah!!!! Watched TV. Talked to Simmon.

Note: In a previous post I mentioned Kim as a boy who was always bothering me during my tennis lessons or at school. I thought he had left and was surprised to see him.
Robert was jokester and he got me with the tabasco sauce. He doctored up the ketchup for my fries.
I love how I always spelled Simone differently. This time I spelled it Simmon.
I am so happy to now have contact with Lisa Seehafer.

Dear Flowers:
I got up at 9:00. Ate. Got dressed. We went skating. We brought Simmon along. Seehafer were there. I was having problems put my skate on & the guy behind the counter comes out & ties it for me! We had fun in the afternoon. I went to the dentist. I ‘m getting my tooth caped next month. He put a new color on my tooth but temporarily. Watched T.V. We picked David & Becky up from C.C. I read on “A Gift from the Girls”.

Note: It is a small world. The skating rink we went to was“Patines Bolonia.” It was owned by Shanti Free’s parents Zoila and Orlando Cabezas. They also ran the Instituto de Yoga Bolonia. I met Shanti several years ago in Knoxville when I went to a yoga session at her studio. I had no idea that she was from Nicaragua and that we skated many times at her parent’s skating ring. Shanti attended a different school from me but we were both there during the earthquake. She is an amazing lady and a wonderful yoga instructor among many other accolades.
When I was 10 years old I knocked my front tooth out on the basketball court. I had it capped and then the adjacent tooth needed to be capped years later.

Dear Flowers:
I got up & went with Mom to the beauty shop. The lady fixed my eyebrows. She told me all these things for I to do to fix my face. We went & got me tennis shoes & manzanilla tea for my face. We went to super. In the afternoon we went to the country club. Carmen, Martha Murphy & Lane were their also Liza S. & Monica Cazares. We fooled around. David came & so did his brother Jimmy (a kid) & sister Gigi. Gigi kept grabbing on to me etc. I didnt talk much to David just a bit. Tommy Von & his sisters were their. I talked to them a short while. Dad & Mom went to Graduation. Watched T.V.

Note: I wish I could remember all the things the beautician told me to do. I remember learning from our seamstress to steam my face with manzanilla tea (chamomile). This helped me not get scars from acne.

Sensing some teenage flirting and fun in these posts! Roberto was a cutie 😉 The diary is Flowers again 😃
Boys that are immature do really annoying things to get girls’ attention.
Some things never change.

We had a patines place right near us in San José back in '65....they used to be everywhere. I think today we're down to about half a dozen in the entire DFW Metroplex. Now, kids would rather play video games, I guess. Ah yes, and the good ol' "Tabasco in the ketchup" trick....(my sisters were not amused). My favorite "salsa" from Latin America is Salas Lizano, the most popular salsa in C.R.
I wonder if y'all got it in Managua? Available from Amazon now, nectar of the gods!
It’s a very sweet thing how delighted you always were when a Henri came home from a business trip. I’m sure he enjoyed being so adored!

That picture of the skating rink brought back memories
