Dear Diary:
School! Mom took us & had to bring me back cause I forgot my locker key. They changed our recess. We have it at 9:05 with Junior High. I gave most of the teachers their ashtray. Missy came in the car with us & I ate lunch at her house. I talked a long time with her mom & her. We came to my my house, then went to Simmons. I‘m missing my spanish book! They’ve found Beckys purse bringing it to our house at 9:30 I guess. The guy across the street said good-bye to me & tried to keep my eye. Watched T.V. Got a card from Carmen.
BYE!
Note: I am not sure we ever found my Spanish book but we sure were lucky to get my sister’s purse back. I wonder what she had in it?
Carmen Maury went to school with me in Colombia.

Dear Diary:
Today is Mom & Dad engagement day. Dad sent Mom some pretty roses. We had assembly 4 period. No P.E.!!! I’m not going to do the same thing as the rest of the class in History or those APT test or whatever. Same test as 10th grader. 5 in or 4 in our class did above normal. 2 in 10th grade. I had tennis lesson. Its the teachers brother Oscar. So far I like Ricardo better I typed up vocabulary list of words & memorized them. Watched T.V. Studied.
BYE!!!
Note: Dad was always good about remembering special days and sending Mom roses. He once sent her gardenias only to find out she was deadly allergic to them. He was always safe sending roses!
I must have missed some History lessons and would have to make them up later. I also had to write a report about our travels.

Dear Diary:
English test hard! I got a 58 on P.E. test so uh! I get an F or D on report card. Typing test as usually. I did a letter in 15 min, 5 errors & envelope in 5 min 1 error. Thats bad. I stayed after for Glee Club. I came with Missy cause bus was going to Managua first. Dad bought Mom a ice maker for bar. I caught up on newspapers. I did History report & math homework. Watched T.V. I am watching Dr Welby. I hope that Missy can live with to go to school here since she’s transferred & will have to go to a boarding school.
BYE!!!
I never liked P.E. as I wasn’t very coordinated and was afraid of getting hit by the ball in the different sports. Fortunately, it was pass/fail and I always managed to pass.
Missy’s Dad was retiring and they were moving to Kentucky. Our parents talked about her living with us and finishing out the school year. In the end, she moved with them to Kentucky which made us both sad.
A weekly series dubbed in Spanish, Marcus Welby MD became one of my favorite T.V. shows. The two doctors were played by the actors Robert Young and James Brolin.

I hated sports class in Bogotá....at 8,600 feet elevation, any aerobic activity wore me out. Always last (except the fat chick) when jogging the 4K track. I eventually acclimated to some extent by the time we returned to the states tho. On returning, got into bicycling, and did quite well (now, at near sea level) with my oversized lungs.
Another blog post and another thing we share. Typing class was not a success for me either. My teacher Miss Alford taped a piece of paper to cover the keyboard and I had to type with my hands underneath it. Really, it made little difference; everything was riddled with errors either way!

I remember watching Dr Welby, MD- I still like to watch all the community helper shows! Always have good looking firefighters, police or doctors! That's a wonder that Becky got her purse back and was brought to your house. I never liked PE either- was usually picked last for teams. In high school I usually said I'd get a shower, so I got to leave class early! Easter blessings to all🤗
Why do I smile the whole time I’m reading your blogs? They’re precious. The ashtrays make me laugh though. Love, Amanda
