Glee Club 1971 - Uniforms were a green, light weight corduroy skirt, white blouse and a matching green tie, our school colors. I'm in the second row on the left.

Dear Diary:

Cathy Pheifer came to visit our class. I’ve been noticing that Claire is getting on my nerves. She only wants me when she has nothing better like she only calls me when she has nothing to do, She always waits for me in after classes today no! I was quite mad but didn’t show it. I checked an Encyclopedia out. I had my tennis lesson & stupid grummy me lost my purse. Nothing to valuable in it but the idea. Ann Barth came over & we played games. I had quite alot of fun. Watched T.V. Did homework. I hope tomorrows a better day.

BYE!!!!

Note: Apparently I was not immune to teenage drama!

My Diary Jan 26-7, 1972

January, 26, 1972 Wed.

Dear Diary:

Today was about the windiest day in History and I wore my contacts. I got an 87 on English. We had a hard math test. I pretty sure I got an F or D. I stayed for Glee Club & Yearbook. Most of time with yearbook typed alittle bit. Went to Glee Club. YB due tomorrow. Claire better finish it!! I went to the eye doctor. He put something like matches in my eyes. I did homework. Talked on the phone (more than I was supposed too) I watched T.V. David went to boy scots mom went too.

BYE!!!

Note: Mrs. Imogene Currin was our music and Glee Club teacher; she even taught us some square dancing in class. Although I enjoyed being in the Glee Club (or Chorus nowadays), I couldn’t read musical notes so sometimes I would lip sync if I wasn’t sure of my part. I usually sang 2nd Soprano.

January 27, 1972 Thurs.

Dear Diary:

We had a test in P.E. & I didn’t do so good. I got a 63 in math. We typed in recess. I stayed after for Yearbook. We’ll have it done by tomorrow. Pray that the page I did at home is alright!!! Mom cut my hair a bit. I did my homework. I wrote Anita a letter yesterday. I washed my books (sounds funny (cover)) I hope I pass the Spanish test & History! Bring me good luck Diary. Watch T.V. Lucia Sombra is real good. Got to study.

BYE!!!

Note: I loved the Spanish Telenovelas or Soap Operas. They were on early evenings and the best part was that one could see the beginning and completion in a matter of months. Lucia Sombra was about a blind girl born out of wedlock to a wealthy family and given up for adoption by the grandmother, telling the unmarried mother that the baby was dead.

"Corrin Tellado" ...better than "As the World Turns" (according to my sisters, not me)

Corazón Salvaje was one of my favorite. Mom even watched it. They did a remake in 1993 which I didn't get to see.

You remember so much detail, Susan! That makes for an even more interesting read in your explanations. You sure stayed busy , as did your siblings and parents by what you have shared so far. Looking forward to next post ! 😊

I’m glad you pointed out which one you are in the class picture. What beautiful hair. Your diary reads much lIke the one I kept my senior year of high school. Pure teenage drama! Aren’t we lucky to have had that? Well, most of it.
