Dear Diary:
No school today. Parent went to get report cards. I went up in everything except P.E. B now. Let’s see I got a B, History, C in Math, B in English, 95 in Spanish, C in Typing, B+ in Science. I got a book (Candlelight) from Anja for Xmas don't remember if I told you. Missy gave me a frijoles necklace & a hair thing. Went to tennis. We (Missy & I) walked P.J. We had lots of fun doing it. Took him to Simmone. I read on “Linda’s Homecoming” - finished it. I watched t.v.
BYE!!!
Note: P.J. was Missy’s nephew. He was about 8 months old and we had him in a baby backpack. He was so cute with red curls which made him stand out. I never guessed that I would one day have my own little redhead. Simone was a classmate.

Note: Mrs. H., a good friend of my parents, decided that I needed to learn to belly dance as it was such a good exercise. She gave me lessons but I never mastered it. We do some of the same moves in my wellness classes which always makes me giggle!

Dear Diary:
We had french toast for Breakfast. We went to the supermarket and then to mass. We went to Meditarenean for lunch (Italian restaraunt) I had carne a la milanesa (viner snictchel). I washed my hair and mom rolled it. I watched T.V. I studied history. I played abit of baseball with Dave & Becky. I watched more T.V. Read on “El Sí de las niñas. PRAY I beg you that I get my Spanish report in & English report & we get yearbook finished on time. PLEASE!!!
BYE!!!
Note: Dave and Becky are my siblings. In Colombia, I learned to read and write in Spanish first so my English writing and spelling left a lot to be desired. I was a creative speller. God has a wonderful sense of humor as in later years I taught English in my career.

Dear Susie, I was thinking all along that your English mistakes and interesting phrasing are much like Spanish speakers' in ESL! Then I remembered reading that you moved to Columbia in Kindergarten. Makes sense! I loved taking Spanish classes with you in high school and later teaching ESL together. I know I'm a little late to the party, but it is a real pleasure reading these blog entries! I'm so invested! Can't wait to continue the journey with young Susie! ❤️❤️
I am enjoying reading your diary. Maybe I missed it but why did you start making a diary? Scott Layer
Belly dancing and normal occurrences of earthquakes during math class! Wow!
However, you reminded me of precious memories with the pictures of your silver Christmas tree (Granee had one) and the proper dress for standby tickets of airline employees. Daddy would always wear a suit and tie, and Mom, Sis and I had to wear our best dresses with age-appropriate legwear. And who could forget the severe warnings that we were NOT to talk about Daddy working for Delta or that we flew for free, and if we acted out, Daddy would be immediately fired, and we would be thrown off the plane!! Oh, and Delta had spies on all the planes to keep track of employee behaviors. YIKES! But…
Reading A Tale of Two Cities at age 14 - Wow!! I love to hear how you spent your days and to see the pictures of your life. Your mom was a pretty lady. Now, about that belly dancing...
The old photo paired with your handwritten diary entry really brings the holiday memory to life. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings. -Amy
