Dear Smiley:
Chui came over. Steve too. I had fun talking to her. Boy I’m going to get in trouble. I was waving at people again today & this guy on a motorcycle wouldn’t stop following us. We had to turn & we couldn’t. Finaly David screamed to him to go & luckly he did. I’m flunking in gym. I got a 1.8 out 10.00 points. I hate gym!!!! Rest of school flew by. I finished my spanish report!!! YEAH!!! Read papers. Got letter from Missy.
BYE!!!
Note: Boy, did I hate gym class. It didn’t matter how much I practiced gymnastics, I just couldn’t do it. It didn’t help that I didn’t like the teacher and she wasn’t fond of me.
I have to admit that I sometimes still have the urge to wave at cars, but I try to restrain myself!

Dear Smiley:
I didn’t even wave & people waved at me!!! In Biology were collecting leaves. I had fun picking leaves & flowers. I was trying to get a mango & Bill F. came & helped me get it. He almost killed himself!!! on this ladder I was scared out of my wits. In English Joey & I had a pen fight. My poor arm was covered with ink. Watched T.V. Went outside. I read on “Canary Yellow” & dear old Biology!!!
BYE!!!
Notes: I sure miss picking mangos from a tree. There is nothing better than a fresh-picked ripe mango.
I love the silliness of fighting with a pen. I bet his arm was covered in ink too.

Dear Smiley:
Today wasn’t such a good day. Lydia having a party & didn’t invite me or Becky. UHH!!! Report cards!!! I missed the Honor roll by P.E. I got a C-. I flunked Science test & Math today. Watched T.V. Went outside. Wish me luck at Dianas tomorrow & Dr.’s (Tetanus shot)!
BYE!!!
Note: Not being invited to a party, missing the honor roll because of P.E. and having a tetanus shot to look forward to are not my idea of a good day.

Hi Snoop,
Steve came over. We went to school on bus and here comes the exciting part and sickening and embarrassing part. Sue was waving to people behind us. Up came a motorcycle. Sue waved. He followed the bus all the way. When we stopped to turn the motorcycle stopped. Couldn’t move. Sue goes move. Vallecios mad. He came to the side. I told him nicely to go to hell. He liked Sue.
School was alright. Smeared him in basketball. Oh you know what. I got 25 wrong in Geo = 100. -5 chapters on open book tests I got 3 wrong on each = 100, 100 this test today, 4 wrong -> 100. Math she said ha ha. I did experiment of carbon and vinegar. Didn’t really work. Basic water vinegar. Steam, Mr. Tom’s idea
Note: I was protective of Susie when it came to unknown men. My comment to go to hell was directed to the motorcyclist, not Mr. Vallecios!
I can’t make sense of the comments on grades. Were the tests curved, thus the 100 score despite multiple errors?
It looks like the science experiment was an attempt to power a boat with baking soda and vinegar. Mr. Tom was the science teacher and I’m not sure how he was suggesting to use steam.

Dear Snoop,
Today was a wonderful day. Woke up on time. School was fine. Month (sp?) wasn’t mad at me, no science class, at home I studied for Geography and later I went out to play. I had fun. More girls played. I talked with them with little difficulty. You know on good days you can barely find anything to write. Here’s a poem I made up.
"I entered a land. I entered a mirror. It seemed just like here. Oh I was wrong. This place was a garden. No fighting at all. There were no burdens, no burdens at all. The people were smiling, no matter their task, they pleasantly worked and did what one asked. Oh they were pleasant, wealthy, they did their best. And when they were done, they’d rest. Oh what a chance. I started to dance. I’d find my way out, and spread news about.”
NOTE: Interesting that on good days, I found it hard to write much. This relates a bit today to how we are attracted to bad news more than good news.
Regarding the poem, I’m far from a poet but it was interesting to see I was imagining a world full of peace and harmony.

To discourage pen fights, we were told the ink was poisonous if the ball point broke the skin. Same with pencils; "lead poison" despite them being graphite, not lead.
Don't think we got periodic tetanus shots, unless we stepped on a "rusty nail"....it was always a rusty nail, never anything else😁
And I remember Semana Santa was always a big holiday period.
Cheers!
Totally agree with you on P.E. I almost passed out from sit ups in high school We didn’t play ball or run much growing up. Mom got us into tap dance and ballet . We were book, tv and movie people!

Always entertaining!
This is a wonderful picture of you, dear Susan!
