Dear Diary:
I got a 97 on Science. The English test was the hardest one I’ve ever had. Uh! I think I’m sure I flunked it. Oh I hate Bisbee. I am excempt from the science semester. I think the Spanish too. Did a report for History. I got to get a good grade on that too!!! Read Charlie Brown books & Archie book. I talked to Missy. A friend of Dad from Mexico, who met me in Miami when I was young was here. I watched T.V. Wish me luck on English & History!!!
PLEASE!!!
BYE!!
Note: I wasn’t a big fan of Dr. Bisbee but many really loved him. I remember getting papers back from him with food stains. It grossed me out. I kept this in mind when grading my students' essays.
I still enjoy reading Charlie Brown and I discovered that my husband kept his collection.

Dear Diary:
I got out of the English Test & Spanish History & Science test!!! Thank you so much!!! Oh especially for English exam. I just made it. I got an 72 on the test. Todays the Party for Missy. We went skating Paul, Missy, Becky, David, Chiu, Danielle & Simon. Gisela came to the house. We had the whole skating ring to ourselves. We made the train etc. Had fun. We then came to our house had cake & ice cream. Played volley ball. Bengi played a short while. Mrs. Hoars mother died today. Missy stayed for supper.
BYE!!!
Note: We had a fun going away party for Missy at the skating rink. It was in a large open aired wooden building with no windows but there were rails to grab if needed. Afterwards, we went to our house; the picture shows some of us in the front yard.
On a side note, several years ago I met the daughter of the skating rink owners. She teaches yoga in a nearby city. She didn’t go to my school and was younger so I didn’t know her then. I love how it is a small world.

Dear Diary:
Mom went to the funeral. I stayed home. Talked to Missy. I read on the book “Brentwood” Ate lunch. I went with Mom to take Becky & David to school to play basketball. I read papers. I read on “Brentwood” all afternoon. Oh it was so good. I finally finished it. Mom, Dad & Becky went to Stewarts. I watched T.V. Watching horror movie called “Mesuahs” I think. Grace Livingstone wrote Brentwood. Talked to Missy.
BYE!!!!!
Note:
My parents never took us to funerals so I never went to one until I was an adult.
I can’t figure out what the name was of the horror movie but I scare easily. I still don’t do well watching scary movies. Ask my family!

I have such fond memories of that skating rink! I loved that you could skate inside and out, with plenty of room for a good crowd.
I'm not sure that is Becky in the picture...will have to see what she thinks! I think the movie was Messiah of Evil, released in April of 73.
Love the 70's attire! I sewed several outfits with bell-bottoms and matching bandana- so fun! Another book title for me to check out! So nice to read about your friendships and life in Nicaragua.
I remember really enjoying that skating rink. I'd love to hear more details about the owner's daughter since you mentioned her teaching yoga near us.
I love that I’m taken back to my own “diary” of being a pre-teen and early teenager…..precious entries that were so universal!!! Great about your medical report! I told a friend about your blog…it inspired her to write one of her own…she was a flight attendant for first Flying Tigers, then Delta…Theflightattendantdownthestreet.com. It’s starting out really well. As am airline brat I think you’d enjoy it.…. So, you you are an inspiration to other writers! Julie Emery
