Dear Diary:
Hi! Happy New Year! I hope it is a good one! We got up at 10 or 10:30. Lola’s day off for New Year so Mom made breakfast. We went to mass. Since we had a big and late breakfast we had a light and late lunch. I read a lot on “Wait for Marcy” I hope to finish it tonight. I played with make-up and hairdos. I’m tired of my hairstyle. I almost lost a contact. I’m so thankful to find it. I talked to Missy. I watched T.V. Arturo’s here. He’s going to eat supper with us. Ham for good luck. Wish me a good year.
BYE!!!
Note: Arturo Molieri worked with my Dad and spent a lot of time at our house. He was like a cool older brother who sometimes took us on short motorcycle rides.

Dear Diary:
We went to church. After mass, we went to the supermarket. We had for lunch spaghetti. I washed my hair. Mom rolled it. After a while, I dried in my new dryer. Missy came over. We were going to the movies but the movie was to long. We went over to Simons. We watched tv. Missy went to dinner with us at the Terraza. Before that, Mom and Dad went to the Trost. We had peper steak. It was really good. I have to bed soon it’s 10:00

Note: Missy is my best friend. Throughout my many moves, we still remain very close. She moved to the U.S. in the spring of 1972. I later visited her and her family and they took me to a Southern Diner. The waitress asked if I wanted my hamburger dressed and I had no idea what she was asking. Her dad quickly explained if I wanted lettuce and tomato on it. Missy and I giggled yes.
Col. Trost and his wife were good friends of my parents.

Dear Diary:
Boy did we have earth shakes or quakes or whatever you call them last night 10 to 10. Went to school today. On math semester I got a 72 on it. Grades were low. Average is 76. English second highest grade 80 & typing F, F, F, & D. She won’t count all I pray. I did my homework. I read papers. We went to the Margot [Theater]. We saw one of BEST movies: "Fiddler on the Roof” I watched TV. I saw a Rock Hudson movie (end). I wrote Myra Ann a letter.

Note: Typing (or keyboarding) was one of my least favorite classes as you could not look at your fingers. Your eyes always had to be on the document and the teacher had a stopwatch, commanding you to type until she said stop! She then counted your words and errors. Typewriters were not electric. They did not have a delete or backspace button to correct mistakes. You had to put white-out liquid on the error, wait for it to dry, and then type the correct letter. It was very stressful, but now, I sure can type crazy fast on my computer and LOVE the backspace button!

Typing class stressed me out so much! I just took it because it fit in my schedule and I needed an elective; never knew how much I'd need it later! But the stress of the timed tests...yikes!
Typing was my worst subject so I sympathize with you. Not only could I not type very well but the teacher acted like she didn’t like me. That is the only teacher I felt that from. Ginger
Arturo Molieri was indeed quite the ladies man. We took ballet lessons from the very beautiful Lillian Molieri, did you?
I wonder if they were brother/sister? Tootsie
Awww. This is great! So glad you're still friends with Missy!
Loving these. Question, what is the Trost?
